Jazz Banjo Magazine is the epitome of what a electronic publication should be.  Some of the very best banjo information available. John has done a terrific job with this project.

Books and Music
  • Welcome to Mel Bay Publications, Inc.
  • Music Viva  The Internet center for free sheet music downloads and more including some specific for the tenor banjo
  • The Showboat Connection -The catalogue is now online and well worth checking out. I think this maybe the very best source for 4 string banjo records and tapes. This is one of the rare places that specializes in banjo music. If you are looking for banjo music this is the place. He has recordings from both past and present banjo players plus Dixieland and some five string players as well.
  • Sheet Music Plus Excellent commercial source of sheet music, method books etc.
  • The Ultimate Plectrum Banjo Player's Guide by Dave Frey  This book is properly named. It is the best plectrum book available. check his site as he is adding a number of really useful items to assist in learning the banjo
  • Compendium of Resources for Teaching Traditional Jazz TJEN believes the following materials to be available as described at the prices shown, but no guarantees are made, nor are any endorsements/recommendations implied. Most complete listing I have seen.

Publications

  • Banjoists' Broadsheet from Julian Vincent, at Laburnum Cottage, Frome Road, Bath, BA2  2QB. $20 will cover subscription for 8 issues (I used to get that many out in a year, but it's nearer 6 now!). Please send dollar bills, not check (it costs more  than $20 to change 'em) Contact Julian for more information. The issue I read was jam full of interesting information.
  • Banjo Times Wayside, Epping Green, Essex England- Free introductory copy mailed anywhere in the world.
  • Mississippi Rag Monthly newspaper relating to Dixieland or traditional Jazz. Listing of festivals and recurring gigs around the country
  • Index To Mugwumps Online Mugwumps magazine page. Mugwumps has been reborn on line. This is one of the more active and changing pages out there. New information is added on a regular basis and there is good information about all sorts of banjo and other old time musical instruments. This page is a must see page.
  • Resonator
  • Silver Strings A new e-zine about banjos in general with a column by Dave Frey about the 4 string banjo
