Banjo Ukulele

  • Banjo Ukulele A really good site with lots of pictures and some good music. Good jumping off place to learn more about this great little instrument.

Other 4 string Styles

  • Banjo Blues Kind of a neat site with a lot of useful information about the blues and the banjo. Still under construction.
  • Patek style tenor banjo Sort of a five string four string style

Classic Banjo

While not four string banjo, the classic banjo style was the predecessor to the arrival of the four string and these pages contain a lot of interesting and useful information

Other Five String Styles

  • Banjo  Hangout A Potpourri of Banjo information
  • Uncle Ben's Banjo page There are lots of five string pages but this one gives a very concise explanation of the various five string styles plus some neat banjo mouse pointers, as well as links to other banjo pages beyond the scope of this page.

Dixieland Banjo

  • DJML -The Dixieland Jazz mailing list. If you have a question about Dixieland banjo-styles history etc., there will be somebody on this list that can give an answer or even better several answers.
  • Marty Grosz This fellow is best known for his guitar but he does play the banjo. In fact his guitar tuning is a hybrid form of Plectrum and Tenor banjo tuning. Regardless of what he plays, make an effort to get to hear him. In my opinion he is what the rhythm player should be. I don't think there is a better one around.
  • David Littlefield's Web Pages Good description of how to play Dixieland e-mail David Littlefield for more information.
  • Hot Links For those of you interested in Dixieland style, a page of links that provides a full plate of information about Dixieland specifically with quite a list of bands and the names of a number of string banjo players therein included.
